Technique
Double gluing
Vinyl-on-paper is one of the most demanding materials in terms of installation technique. Unlike vinyl non-woven fabric—which is dimensionally stable—vinyl-on-paper expands significantly when it comes into contact with adhesive, requiring precise control over the timing and amount of adhesive used. Installation performed without the correct technique results in bubbles, open seams, or pattern distortions.
The solution is double gluing: apply adhesive to both the wall and the back of the paper, let the material rest for the time necessary for controlled expansion, and only then proceed with installation. This technique requires experience and does not allow for improvisation.
This collaboration with Arteficio by Barbara Luppi — a design studio with a precise vision and high standards — called for a result that lived up to the overall project.
The Challenge
Manage the expansion of vinyl on paper using the double-gluing technique, ensuring invisible seams and perfectly flat surfaces in a high-end professional setting.
The result
A flawless wall in a designer space, created using the proper technique for a material that leaves no room for error.
